St. Cloud State Softball Picks Up First Ranked Win Since March 2023, Splits First Road NSIC Doubleheader with No. 10 Augustana

Huskies take game one, 5-2, drop 1-0 pitcher’s duel in game two
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – St. Cloud State Softball (25-9, 4-2 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) split its first road NSIC doubleheader of the season on Friday against No. 10 Augustana (25-7, 7-1 NSIC) at Bowden Field in Sioux Falls. The Huskies won game one 5-2, before dropping a 1-0 pitcher's duel in game two.
The loss was the first of the conference season for the Vikings. The win was also the first against a ranked opponent since March 5, 2023, vs. No. 8 Grand Valley State in Florida, and snapped a three-game losing streak against ranked opponents.
GAME ONE: ST. CLOUD STATE 5, AUGUSTANA 2
After going 0-for-3 in the first and second innings, the Huskies plated four runs in the third, to take a 4-0 lead. SCSU scored two runs on a throwing error, while sophomore catcher/infielder Bethany Weiss (Forest Lake, Minn.) drove a run in, and senior infielder Maggie Fitzgerald (Oak Lawn, Ill.) hit an RBI-single.
Augie scored their first run of the game on a solo home run in the bottom of the third, but the Huskies responded with another run in the fourth to extend their lead back to four with an RBI from freshman catcher Morgan Honeycutt (Rosemount, Minn.). The Vikings hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh for their second run of the game.

· It was the Huskies first ranked win since March 5, 2023, vs. #8 Grand Valley State in Florida, snapping a three-game losing streak against ranked opponents.
· SCSU scored 5+ runs for the 23rd time this season and fourth consecutive game and tallied 6+ hits for the 30th time and fourth straight game.
· The Huskies hit 2+ doubles for the 20th time this season.
· SCSU limited its opponent to two or less runs for the 18th time this season (seven out of the last eight) and six or less hits for the 17th time (five out of the last six).
· The Huskies did not issue a walk for the eighth time this season.
· Porter made her first start of the year and logged a 7.0 inning complete game. It was her team-leading 17th appearance of the season.
· Fitzgerald hit her 10th double of the season which is tied for second most on the team this season.
· Collins improved her on-base streak to five games.
· Redshirt sophomore infielder Grace Frechette (Forest Lake, Minn.) extended her on-base streak to a season-best 12 games.
· Honeycutt improved her career-best on-base streak to eight games.
GAME TWO: AUGUSTANA 1, ST. CLOUD STATE 0
Augustana scored the game's lone run in the bottom of the second with a sacrifice fly. The Huskies only recorded two hits and were struck out 10 times by Augie's ace, Grace Glanzer, who picked up the shutout win. Junior right handed pitcher Macey Clark (Winneconne, Wis.) was spectacular for the Huskies as well, only allowing one run on four hits in her complete game effort.
