Huskies fall 1-0 in lone completed game

WAYNE, Neb. – St. Cloud State Softball (25-10, 4-3 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) fell to Wayne State (19-12, 4-3 NSIC) in a 1-0 pitcher's duel at the Pete Chapman Softball Complex in Wayne Saturday morning. The second game made it to the bottom of the third inning before it was canceled due to rain.

GAME ONE: WAYNE STATE 1, ST. CLOUD STATE 0
Wayne State plated the game's only run in the home half of the fourth inning with a solo home run to left field. The Huskies recorded six hits and drew four walks but struck out 12 times in their second straight 1-0 shutout loss. Aside from the home run, junior right handed pitcher Macey Clark (Winneconne, Wis.) had a solid for SCU, only allowing three hits, while striking out five batters in her complete game effort.

NOTABLES
·       The Huskies moved to 25-18 all-time against Wayne State.
·       SCSU moved to 1-2 on the road this season.
·       The Huskies were shutout for only the second time this season (second consecutive 1-0 game) and struck out a season-high 12 times.
·       SCSU tallied 6+ hits for the 31^st time this season (fifth time in last six games).
·       The Huskies limited its opponent to one or less runs for the 13^th time this season (three out of the last four) and three or fewer hits for the fourth time (two out of the last four).
·       SCSU struck out 5+ batters for 20^th time this season and walked one or fewer batters for the 19^th time (four consecutive games).
·       Clark threw her team leading 10^th complete game of the season, appeared in her teaming leading 18^th game and made her team leading 17^th start. She struck out 5+ batters for the 11^th time this season, lowered her season ERA to 1.91 and surpassed 100 innings pitched on the season.
·       Holzhueter recorded her team-leading 12^th double of the season and posted her 14^th multi-hit game (second most on the team).
·       Holmes tallied her team-leading 15^th multi-hit game of the season.
·       Redshirt freshman utility Kaylee Collins (Lakeville, Minn.) extended her on-base streak to seven games.
