
St. Cloud State Softball and Bemidji State Split Tuesday Doubleheader

Huskies drop game one, 8-4 (8 inn.), rebound with 9-1 run rule win
Senior infielder Maggie Fitzgerald (Oak Lawn, Ill.) walked three times in the first game, tying Morgan Emmans (2016-19) for the program career record in that category, with 90.
GAME ONE: BEMDIJI STATE 8, ST. CLOUD STATE 4 (8 INN.)
Junior infielder Sydney Roe (Davenport, Iowa) gave the Huskies a 3-0 lead in the first inning after clearing the loaded bases with double to left center field. Bemidji State responded with a two-RBI triple in the next half inning, cutting the SCSU lead to one.
The Beavers took their first lead of the game after plating two runs in the fifth, but SCSU tied the game at four in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI-single from senior catcher/outfielder Reese Holzhueter (Shakopee, Minn.). Neither team scored in the seventh, sending the game to extra inning. The Beavers scored four runs in the eighth with a pair of 2-RBI singles and SCSU was unable to answer, ending the game.

- The Huskies moved to 81-13 all-time against Bemidji State and 2-1 against the Beavers this season.

- Fitzgerald became the first Husky to walk three times in a game this season. She tied Morgan Emmans (2016-19) for the program record in career walks, with 90.
- Redshirt freshman utility Kaylee Collins (Lakeville, Minn.) extended her on-base streak to eight games.
The Beavers opened the game with a one run lead after and RBI-single in the first half inning. SCSU roared back in the second inning, pushing six runs across to take a five-run lead. Freshman catcher Morgan Honeycutt (Rosemount, Minn.) got the Huskies started with a two-RBI double, which was followed by a two-RBI single from Holzheueter and capped off with a two-run blast from redshirt sophomore infielder Grace Frechette (Forest Lake, Minn.).
SCSU added a run in the third and an RBI-double from Frechette in the fourth extended the Huskies lead to seven. In the bottom of the fifth, Holzhueter hit the run-rule clinching hit, driving in Honeycutt with an RBI-single.

- SCSU hit its first home run in eight games and walked 7+ walks for seventh time this season (second consecutive).
- The Huskies allowed 3 or fewer hits for the fifth time this season and held its opponent to one or fewer runs for the 14th time this season (four out of the last six games).
- SCSU held its opponent without an extra base hit for the 11th time this season.
- Holzhueter took sole possession of the most multi-hit games on the team this season with 16. She also posted her fifth 3+ hit game of the season which is second most on the team. She tallied multiple RBIs in a game for the sixth time (fourth most) and 3+ in a game for the second time (tied for second most).
- Frechette tallied her third multi-hit game of the season. She posted her seventh multi-RBI game of the season (tied for second) and second 3+ RBI game which is also tied for second most on the team. She hit her first home run of the season.
- Honeycutt recorded a multi-RBI game for the second time this season.
- Eickhoff remained undefeated and took the team lead for wins win 11. She logged her sixth complete game of the season which ranks second most on the team. She lowered her season ERA to 2.33.
SCSU will close out its six-game homestand on this weekend. The Huskies play Southwest Minnesota State (22-16, 4-8 NSIC) on Saturday and Concordia-St. Paul (16-21, 8-4 NSIC) on Sunday.
