
St. Cloud State Softball Sweeps Final Two Games at THE Spring Games Friday

Huskies take down Edinboro, 7-2, shutout Staten Island, 6-0
CLERMONT, Fla. – St. Cloud State Softball (21-7, 0-0 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) swept its final day at THE Spring Games at Legends Way in Clermont on Friday. The Huskies defeated Edinboro (Pa.) (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference), 7-2 in their first game and shutout Staten Island (7-5, 0-0 East Coast Conference), 6-0 in the second game.
GAME ONE: ST. CLOUD STATE 7, EDINBORO 2
The Huskies got on the board first in the bottom of the second after senior infielder Maggie Fitzgerald (Oak Lawn, Ill.) sent a solo shot over the right field fence. Edinboro responded with two runs on two RBI-doubles in the next half inning to take a 2-1 lead.
SCSU immediately took back its lead, scoring four runs in the bottom of the third which was highlighted by a two-RBI single from redshirt sophomore infielder Grace Frechette (Forest Lake, Minn.). The Huskies added their final two runs in the bottom of the fourth, as the final two and a half innings went scoreless.

· Holzhueter recorded her 12th multi-hit game of the season, third 3+ hit game of the season and sixth stolen base – all three rank second on the team. She is on a five-game hitting streak.
· Frechette posted her second multi-hit game of the season and fifth multi-RBI game, which ranks tied for third on the team. She extended hitting streak to a season-best six games. She stole her team-leading seventh base of the season.
· Fitzgerald recorded her sixth multi-RBI game of the season, which ranks second on the team. She hit her second home run of the season and 23rd of her career. She extended her on-base streak to a season-best 15 games and her hitting streak to five games.
· Dahmen hit her first career triple.
· Sophomore infielder Brooke Holmes (Savage, Minn.) extended her hitting streak to six games.
GAME TWO: ST. CLOUD STATE 6, STATEN ISLAND 0
SCSU took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth with a two-RBI single from Frechette. The Huskies added three more runs in the fifth with an RBI-single from sophomore outfielder Hannah Harms (Bartlett, Ill.), a sacrifice fly from sophomore catcher/infielder Bethany Weiss (Forest Lake, Minn.) and Holmes scored on a passed ball. SCSU added its final run in the top of the seventh inning.

· Harms recorded her first multi-hit game of the season, becoming the 11th Husky to have a multi-hit game. She hit her second triple of the season which is second most on the team. It was the first time she scored 2+ runs in a game this season.
· Holmes hit her ninth triple of the season to tie the team lead. She stole her fifth base which ranks third on the Huskies. She has scored 2+ runs in 10 games this season. She extended her hitting streak to six games.
· Frechette posted her sixth multi-RBI game of the season which is tied for second most on the team. She extended her hitting streak to a season-long seven games.
· Dahmen stole 2+ bases in a game for the first time in her career.
· Fitzgerald extended her on-base streak to a season-long 16 games.
