St. Cloud State Softball Wins Twice, Finishes Lewis Dome Invitational 5-1

Huskies beat Truman State, William Jewell in pair of low scoring games, extends win streak to five games
ROSEMONT, Ill. – St. Cloud State Softball (9-1, 0-0 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) extended its win streak to five games after winning its final two games of the Lewis Dome Invitational at The Dome at the Ballpark in Rosemont, Illinois on Saturday. The Huskies beat Truman State and William Jewell to finish the weekend 5-1.
GAME ONE: ST. CLOUD STATE 3, TRUMAN STATE 1
The Bulldogs (3-11, 0-0 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) broke the game's 0-0 tie in the top of the fifth inning, taking a 1-0 lead. SCSU didn't waste any time responding, scoring all three of its runs in the next half inning. Sophomore catcher/infielder Morgan Honeycutt (Rosemount, Minn.) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded for the first Husky run, redshirt junior infielder Grace Frechette (Forest Lake, Minn.) drew a bases loaded walk for the second and redshirt freshman infielder Hannah Weckman (Lakeville, Minn.) hit an RBI-single for the third.
TOP HUSKIES
SCSU jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Roe hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first inning. The Huskies doubled their lead in the bottom of the sixth when Frechette hit an RBI-single. Jewell (1-8, 0-0 GLVC) scored its lone run in the top of the seventh inning.

The Huskies travel to Florida to play 12 games over eight days (Feb. 28 – March 7) between the Chain of Lakes Softball Complex in Titusville (first four games) and the Space Coast Complex in Melbourne (final eight games). - SCSU drew a season-high seven walks (tie), stole a season-high five bases, allowed just one or fewer run for the fifth time and held its opponent without an extra base hit for the third time this season.
- Porter surpassed 300 innings pitched in her career.
- Holmes recorded her second multi-hit game of the season and posted the most stolen bases by a Husky in a game this season (two).
- Weiss extended her on-base streak to 25 games and her hitting streak to 11 games which both date back to last year. Her on-base streak is the longest for a Husky since Raven Vanden Langenberg (2019-23) reached base safely in 26 consecutive games in 2023.
