St. Cloud State Softball Continues Perfect Start to 2026

Huskies take down Bemidji State, Concordia-St. Paul to close Kelly Laas Memorial Tournament
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Softball (4-0, 0-0 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) continued its perfect start to the new season with a sweep of the second and final day of the Kelly Laas Memorial Tournament on Saturday in the Husky Dome in St. Cloud. The Huskies picked up a run-rule win against Bemidji State, 9-1 (6 inn.) before capping off their perfect 4-0 weekend with a 2-1 win over Concordia-St. Paul.
GAME ONE: ST. CLOUD STATE 9, BEMIDJI STATE 1 (6 INN.)
SCSU got on the board first with a three-run first inning after an RBI-single from redshirt junior infielder Grace Frechette (Forest Lake, Minn.) and a 2-RBI triple from sophomore infielder Grace Dahmen (Jordan, Minn.). The Beavers (0-4, 0-0 NSIC) cut their deficit to two after scoring a run in the top of the third, but the Huskies answered right back with a five-run bottom half.
Frechette hit another RBI-single, junior outfielder Hannah Harms (Bartlett, Ill.) laid down an RBI-bunt single, redshirt freshman infielder Hannah Weckman (Lakeville, Minn.) recorded a two-RBI double as a pinch hitter and junior catcher/infielder Bethany Weiss (Forest Lake, Minn.) added an RBI-single of her own.
St. Cloud State earned its second run rule win of the Beavers in the bottom of the sixth inning when junior outfielder Kori Needham (Milan, Ill.) hit an RBI-sac fly to right field.
TOP HUSKIES
Concordia-St. Paul (2-2, 0-0 NSIC) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the opening half inning of play, but the Huskies tied the game at one in the next half inning after Honeycutt drove in a run on a bases loaded fielder's choice.
SCSU pulled ahead in the bottom of the third inning when Frechette hit a two-out RBI-single to left-center, giving the Huskies what turned out to be a decisive 2-1 lead.

The Huskies are off next weekend and return to play on Thursday, Feb. 19 at the Lewis Dome Invitational in Rosemont, Illinois. - Freshman outfielder Caitlyn Rosha (St. Anthony, Minn.) and freshman infielder Annabelle Ross (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) each made their SCSU debuts as pinch runners.
