
St. Cloud State Softball Picks Up Midweek Sweep of Concordia-St. Paul on the Road

Huskies hit four home runs, outscores CSP 15-4 in seventh series sweep of NSIC play
GAME ONE: ST. CLOUD STATE 12, CONCORDIA-ST. PAUL 4 (5 INN.)
SCSU jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning after a sacrifice fly from junior catcher/infielder Bethany Weiss (Forest Lake, Minn.) and an RBI-double from sophomore catcher/infielder Morgan Honeycutt (Rosemount, Minn.) in back-to-back at-bats. The Golden Bears took their first lead of the game in the next half inning with a three-run home run.
In the top of the third, the Huskies regained the lead when redshirt sophomore utility Kaylee Collins (Lakeville, Minn.) delivered a two-run shot and pushed its lead to two with an RBI-single from junior infielder Kennedy Palmer (Ankeny, Iowa) two batters later. St. Cloud State added five more runs on five hits, including two home runs in the fourth to extend its lead to 10-3. Senior designated player Sydney Roe (Davenport, Iowa) crushed a grand slam and junior outfielder Hannah Harms (Bartlett, Ill.) added a solo shot two at-bats later.
Honeycutt drove in two more runs with her second double of the game in the fifth to extend the Huskies lead to nine. CSP loaded the bases in the home half of the inning but failed to extend the game after only plating one run, marking a 12-4 run-rule win for the Huskies.

- SCSU improved to 41-30 all-time against Concordia-St. Paul and 8-2 in its last 10 matchups against the Golden Bears. The Huskies are 2-0 against CSP this season and are riding a four-game win streak which includes a pair of run rule wins. SCSU has outscored the Bears 35-8 in those games.
- The Huskies improved to 7-6 on the road this season and notched their eighth run rule win of the season and fourth of Northern Sun play.
- SCSU scored 12+ runs for the third time this season, recorded 15+ hits for the second time and hit 3+ home runs for the third time.

- Frechette tallied her 12th multi-hit game of the season which ranks tied for second most on the team. She hit her 12th double which ranks third best on the team and scored 3+ runs for the second time. She extended her on-base streak to a season-best 14 games.
- Honeycutt notched her ninth multi-hit game of the season. It was also her ninth multi-RBI game (tied for the second most on the team) and fifth with 3+ (tied for most on the team). She hit her 13th and 14th doubles of the season and recorded her 36th, 37th and 38th RBIs of the season – both marks rank second on the team and are just one behind Weiss for the team lead. She also extended her on-base streak to six games.
- Roe posted her sixth multi-RBI game and third with 4+ which is tied for the most on the team. She hit her fourth home run in the last five games.
- Collins recorded her seventh multi-RBI game of the season. She hit her second home run of the season.
- Harms hit her third home run of the season and scored 2+ runs for the second time. She extended her on-base streak to a season-best 16 games which is tied for the longest of any Husky this season.
- Porter surpassed 110.0 innings pitched on the season and earned her 13th win of the season which ranks second on the team.
- Junior infielder Brooke Holmes (Savage, Minn.) recorded a hit to extend her on-base streak to six games.
The game was knotted at zero through the first four and a third innings before the Huskies scored on a bases loaded sacrifice fly from Roe after a walk and a pair of infield singles. SCSU added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh when Weiss hit a two-run blast over the right field wall. Senior pitcher Macey Clark (Winneconne, Wis.) continued her dominance in the circle, hurling her third straight shutout and her fourth in her last five starts. She allowed just four hits and did not issue a walk over seven innings of work.

It was her third consecutive shutout and fourth in her last five starts.
- Roe posted her 10th multi-hit game of the season, becoming the fourth Husky to reach double digit games.
- Collins tallied her fifth multi-hit game of the season.
- Weiss tallied her 17th multi-hit game of the season and 11th multi-RBI game which both lead the Huskies this season. She hit her fifth home run which ranks third on the team and she drove in runs number 40 and 41 of the season which leads the team.
- Holmes notched her 13th multi-hit game of the season which ranks second most on the team. She hit her 11th double of the season and pushed her on-base streak to seven games.
- Harms extended her on-base streak to a season-best 17 games which is the longest of any Husky this season.
- Frechette drew a walk to extend her on-base streak to a season-best 15 games.
- Honeycutt recorded a hit to extend her on-base streak to seven games.
The Huskies close out the road portion of their conference schedule this weekend at Minnesota Crookston (13-32, 7-13 NSIC) and MSU Moorhead (7-36, 5-15 NSIC). First pitches against the Golden Eagles are set for 1 and 3 p.m. at the Minnesota Crookston Softball Field in Crookston on Saturday and SCSU will play the Dragons on Saturday at noon and 2 p.m. at Nemzek Softball Field in Moorhead on Sunday.
