Rochester, Minn. – The St. Cloud State University softball team dropped a pair of games in second day action at the NSIC/MIAA Crossover Tournament held in Rochester, Minn.
The Huskies are 3-5 overall and will conclude the Crossover on Sunday morning with a game against Washburn University at 8.
Lindenwood University defeated the Huskies 8-1 in the first game as senior catcher Mikayla Hogan (Chippewa Falls, Wis.) provided the only Husky run with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Sophomore pitcher Kendra Merritt (Fort Lupton, Colo.) was the pitcher of record for the Huskies and struck out six batters.
In the second game of the day, Minnesota State University, Mankato dropped the Huskies 8-2. Senior shortstop Kelly Olson (Oak Grove) reached base all three of her at bats by any means necessary, a hit by pitch, a single and an MSU error. The Huskies failed to get a timely hit with runners in scoring position several times in the game.
Hogan, along with Olson and sophomore Megan Lehnen (Burnsville) hit safely on both games.
