Softball Team Completes Crossover Tournament with Win on Sunday

Rochester, Minn. -- The St. Cloud State University softball team closed out the NSIC/MIAA Crossover Tournament
with a 2-1 win over Washburn University Sunday morning.The Huskies went 2-2 in the Crossover and are 4-5 overall.
St. Cloud State got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the second when Stephanie Roan (St. Charles, Ill.) drew
a lead-off walk and later scored on an rbi sacrifice by Megan Lehnen (Burnsville).
Washburn evened the score in the top of the sixth, scoring on a hit batter and leaving three runners on base.
In the bottom of the seventh Roan led off with a single and Danielle Rahn (Orono) came in to run for her. Rahn
advanced to second on a passed ball, got to third on a wild pitch and scored the winning run on a fielders choice.
Sophomore Kelly Franks (Stevens Point, Wis.) three a complete game, going seven innings, giving up five hits and
struck out 10 batters.
Roan was one for two at the place and Taylor Thomas (Fontana, Calif.), Mikayla Hogan (Chippewa Falls, Wis.), Kelsie Fitch (Carver) and Jordan Grell (Moville, Iowa), all had singles in the game.
St. Cloud State returns to action this Friday when the Huskies host the Kelly Laas Memorial Husky Dome Invitational. The Invitational runs through Sunday.
