Brackets Announced for 2013 NSIC Women's Tennis Tournament

Burnsville, Minn. - The 2013 NSIC Women's Tennis Tournament Brackets have been released following the completion of the regular season. The eight team single elimination team tournament will take place at Life Time Fitness Oakdale (Village Tennis) in Minnetonka, Minn. on Sat.-Sun., April 20-21. Seeding is based on the final regular season standings.
The tournament will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday with second seeded Winona State taking on seventh seeded University of Mary. That will be followed by third seeded St. Cloud State taking on sixth seeded Upper Iowa. Then Augustana College, the regular season champion and number one seed in the tournament, will take on the University of Sioux Falls at 2 p.m. The final match of the day will have the fourth seed of Minnesota State taking on fifth seeded Northern State. Both semifinal matches will take place on Sunday morning at 8 a.m. followed by the championship match at noon.
There was a three way tie in the final standings for sixth place between the University of Mary, the University of Sioux Falls and Upper Iowa University. The three teams all split head-to-head, had identical records against the other teams in the league and identical scores in their matches against each other. Sioux Falls was awards the eight seed following a coin flip. Upper Iowa was the sixth seed via a head-to-head win versus U-Mary during the regular season.
The winner of the NSIC Women's Tennis Tournament and the MIAA Tournament will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Central Region Tournament, with the remaining two spots being awarded on an at-large basis. The NCAA DII Central Region Tournament will take place on campuses on April 27-30. The NCAA DII Championships (Final 16) will take place on May 8-11 at the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex in Surprise, Ariz.
