Huskies bring home titles from 2014 Finn Grinaker Open

The St. Cloud State University wrestling team enjoyed a strong showing at the 2014 Finn Grinaker Open, which was hosted by Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn. on Nov. 22. Â In the Gold Division at the Open, SCSU's attached wrestlers scored four individual titles and the Huskies also gained one championship in the tournament's Maroon Division.
In the Gold Division, Tanner Trembley posted a 3-0 record in the 149-pound division. Â Trembley won the title with an 8-2 victory over Joe Umlauf of North Dakota State. Â SCSU's Clint Poster also won a bracket championship with a 4-0 record at 157-pounds. Â He scored the first place finish with a 13-5 major decision against Zane Zeman of Minnesota.
At 197-pounds, SCSU's Trae Story went 3-0 and won the championship with an 8-3 win over Nathan Rose of Minnesota. Â The Huskies' final Gold Division title was won by Austin Goergen at 285-pounds. Â He won the title with a 3-0 record, which included a 13-4 major decision win over Justice Davis of Concordia. Â
In the tournament's Maroon Division, SCSU's Travis Holt won top honors in the 157-pound bracket with a 4-0 record.
At 125-pounds, SCSU's Joel Salomon placed second in the Gold Division with a 2-1 record. Â He lost in the title bout with a 12-2 decision against Minnesota's Ethan Lizak. Â At 133-pounds, Jarred Oftedahl placed second with a 2-1 record. Â He lost in the championship match to Ben Morgan of Minnesota.
At 165-pounds in the Gold Division, SCSU's Josh Berg finished in second place after dropping a 10-4 match against Brandon Krone of Minnesota in the championship match. Â SCSU's Alex Anaya also placed fourth in the 165-pound bracket with a 3-1 record. Â In the 174-pound Gold Division, Clayton Jennissen and Garrett Miller from SCSU shared third place honors in the bracket. Â
At 184-pounds in the Gold Division, Ben McPhail rolled to a third place finish with a 4-1 record while teammate Uthman Rabiu was fifth with a 4-2 record. Â In the Gold Division at 285-pounds, SCSU's Caleb White and Luke Belich also posted 2-2 records on Nov. 22.
In action in the Maroon Division, SCSU's Larry Bomstad charted a second place record of 3-1 in the 149-pound bracket while Tim Moore placed second at 174-pounds with a record of 4-1.
