Softball Records 7-6 Win Over Nebraska-Kearney

St. Cloud, Minn. – The St. Cloud State softball faced Nebraska-Kearney in the second day of the Kelly Laas Invitational. The Huskies defeated Nebraska-Kearney in eight innings with a final score of 7-6.
Megan Hedstrom (Palatine, Ill.) was perfect behind the plate going four-for-four. Hedstrom finished with two runs and two putouts.
Alyssa Coletto (Aurora, Ill.) led all players with nine putouts.
Tricia DeBoer (Blooming Prairie, Minn.) and Megan Lehnen (Burnsville, Minn.) each finished with two hits for St. Cloud State.
St. Cloud State's Senna Francesconi (Schomberg, Ontario) pitched five innings and Kelly Franks (Stevens Point, Wis.) pitched three. Francesconi struck out two batters and gave up three hits. Franks struck out six batters, walked four, and gave up eight hits.
Nebraska-Kearney was the first on the board with Rebecca Wyatt scoring in the top of the first and Kate Ruwe scoring in the top of the third. In the fourth, Nebraska-Kearney scored three runs while the Huskies scored two. St. Cloud State's Megan Lehnen (Burnsville, Minn.) doubled in the fifth, recording 2 rbi's. Emma Hodges (Munster, IN) recorded a homerun in the sixth. Nebraska-Kearney scored in the seventh on an error to tie it up. In the eighth, Abby Bunnell (Maple Grove, Minn.) scored on an error to finish the game for the Huskies.
St. Cloud State will return to action tomorrow as they take on Missouri Western State at 2:30 p.m. and Fort Hays State University at 5 p.m. in the Husky Dome.
