SCSU Softball to Host Kelly Laas Memorial Invite

St. Cloud, Minn. – The St. Cloud State softball team is set to host the Kelly Laas Memorial Invite from Thursday, Feb. 19-22. Five NSIC teams will participate in this year's invitational and an additional five teams from the MIAA.
History: This will mark the fourth Kelly Laas Memorial Invite. The Invite will also carry a Coaches vs. Cancer theme in honor of former Husky player Kelly Laas who passed away in March of 2011 following a courageous battle against ovarian cancer. Laas, of Frankfort, Ill., began her softball career at St. Cloud State in 2008 and was an elementary education major. In her memory, St. Cloud State named the annual dome invite the Kelly Laas Memorial Invite beginning in the spring of 2012.
St. Cloud State is currently 2-3 overall. The Huskies participated in the Desert Stinger in Las Vegas, Nev. last weekend to open their season. St. Cloud State's Jessica Goerger (Mankato, Minn.) is hitting .538 this season. Alyssa Coletto (Aurora, Ill.) leads the Huskies in home runs with two. Pitcher Megan Hedstrom (Palatine, Ill.) has made three appearances for the Huskies and has posted a 2-0 record. Hedstrom has pitched 10 innings, stuck out five batters, and recorded an earned run average of 2.10.

2015 Kelly Laas Memorial Softball Invite
