St. Cloud State Soccer opens NSIC season on Sept. 15

The St. Cloud State University soccer team (1-1, 0-0 NSIC) will open its 2015 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference season on Tuesday, Sept. 15 with a 7 p.m. league match against the University of Minnesota Duluth (1-2, 0-0 NSIC) at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud, Minn.
Tickets for this important NSIC game at scenic Husky Stadium will be available at the gate on game night. All St. Cloud State University students with a valid SCSU student ID card will be admitted FREE to the game. Just show your ID card at the gate and you get in FREE!

The game vs. UMD will mark the first game of the NSIC season for both SCSU and UMD.
The Huskies are in the midst of a seven-game homestand to open the 2015 season. SCSU will continue this week with home games on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 11 a.m. against Northern State and on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 1 p.m. against Minnesota State Moorhead.
This weekend will mark Celebrate! St. Cloud State on the campus.
The Huskies were idle last week after opening with a weekend split against Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech on Sept. 4 and Sept. 6. The Huskies scored a 2-1 win over NMU and then lost 3-0 to MTU.
Rookie Maria Kass leads the Huskies with two goals and four points in 2015, while Bailly Drayton has one assist.
Gretta Arvesen is in her second season as head coach at St. Cloud State University.
This marks the 31st meeting between SCSU and UMD - the longest series in the history of SCSU soccer. UMD leads the series 6-18-6, which dates back to 1994. Last year, UMD posted a 3-0 win in Duluth, Minn. SCSU will be looking to snap a two-game losing streak against UMD. The last time SCSU posted a victory over UMD was a 2-1 win on Sept. 9, 2012 in Duluth.
