St. Cloud State soccer drops 3-1 decision against Wayne State

The St. Cloud State University soccer team (6-6-4, 5-4-4 NSIC) lost a 3-1 match against Wayne State College (8-5-3, 5-5-3 NSIC) on Sunday, Oct. 23 at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud, Minn.
The Wildcats charged to a 3-0 first half lead and held on in the second half to gain the victory. Wayne State opened the scoring at 1:45 with an own goal tally that made it 1-0. Kelsey Engstrom scored against for WSC at 11:56 and Natalie Rech made it 3-0 with her goal at 39:17, both goals were unassisted.
In the second half, the Huskies broke the shutout with an unassisted goal by Kelli Santo Paulo. Her blast from centerfield at the top of the box beat the WSC goalkeeper and it also provided Santo Paulo with her first goal of the 2016 season.
In the game, SCSU outshot the Wildcats 16-10. Julia Clifford was the goalkeeper of record with four saves for SCSU. Kylie Comba had six saves for Wayne State.
SCSU will continue its 2016 season on Friday, Oct. 28 against Bemidji State. This is the final regular season home game for the Huskies and it is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. on the pitch at Husky Stadium. All youth will be admitted FREE to this game and all SCSU students with a valid SCSU ID card will be admitted FREE to this game.
