Huskies aim to secure playoff spot vs. Bemidji State, Minnesota Crookston

St. Cloud State will be fighting to secure a spot in the postseason this weekend
The St. Cloud State soccer team (6-6-4, 5-4-4 NSIC) wraps up its regular season with games against Bemidji State (12-4-0, 10-3-0) and Minnesota Crookston (3-11-2, 2-9-2) this weekend. The Huskies host the Beavers on Friday, October 28 at 7 p.m. in the season's final game at Husky Stadium before traveling to face the Golden Eagles on Sunday, October 30 at 2 p.m.
Coming into the final weekend, SCSU sits in a two-way tie for sixth in the conference with Minnesota Duluth at 19 points, but are only one point ahead of the two teams in a tie for seventh place. Three teams, Northern State, Wayne State and Concordia-St. Paul, are all within striking distance with 18, 18 and 16 points, respectively. With only eight conference tournament spots up for grabs, the Huskies will be fighting for their playoff lives.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS: Bemidji State has won three straight and five of its last six games. It is third place in the conference with 30 points on the season. BSU has scored the third-most goals in conference play (29), while allowing the third-least (10). Senior forward Bailey Ertl leads the team with nine goals and 22 points, while junior forward Raquel Thelen paces the Beavers with 12 assists.
Bemidji State is 5-9-1 all-time against St. Cloud State, including 2-5-1 at Husky Stadium. The Huskies won, 2-1 in overtime, when the teams last met on Oct. 30, 2015.

Last weekend, the Golden Eagles tied, 0-0, against Sioux Falls and beat Southwest Minnesota State, 1-0. They have struggled on both sides of the ball against NSIC opponents, allowing the fourth-most goals against (22) and are tied for the fewest goals scored with five in 13 games. UMC is led by senior midfielder Kallie Gau, who has three goals on the season.
