Huskies head north for NSIC Tournament match-up at Bemidji State

St. Cloud State is making its second-straight conference tournament appearance
The No. 6 St. Cloud State soccer team (7-7-4, 6-5-4 NSIC) opens NSIC Tournament play Wednesday on the road against No. 3-seeded Bemidji State (13-4-1, 11-3-1). Game time is 5 p.m. in Bemidji.
The Huskies are making their second straight conference tournament appearance. They are 2-4 all-time in first round games, including a shootout win over the Beavers in 2009.
St. Cloud State leads the all-time series, 8-6-1, including a 5-3 mark in Bemidji. SCSU and BSU matched up once during the regular season, a 1-0 Husky loss on October 28. Bemidji State sophomore forward Dani Nelson scored the game's only goal.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS: Bemidji State finished in third place in the NSIC with a 11-3-1 conference record. It comes into the postseason unbeaten in seven of its last eight games (6-1-1), including the win at Husky Stadium on October 28, and have shutout two of its last three and three of its last five opponents. The Beavers allowed the third-fewest goals against (11) in conference play this season, holding its foes to under a goal per game (0.73). They also ranked third in goals scored, with 31 in 15 NSIC matches.
Senior forward Bayley Ertl leads the team with nine goals and 22 points, while junior forward Raquel Thelen paces BSU with 12 assists.
Bemidji State is 7-2-1 at home this season. Its last meeting with the Huskies in Bemidji resulted in a 2-1 St. Cloud State overtime victory on Oct. 30, 2015.

- Redshirt senior goalkeeper Julia Clifford has started every game in goal and boasts a 1.42 goals-against average and .771 save percentage on the season.
- Junior defender Mackenzie Winters has played every minute of every game for St. Cloud State this season. She led a Husky defense that ranked sixth in the league with 18 goals against in conference play (1.20 per game).
