#1 St. Cloud State wrestling rolls to big win at SMSU

The #1 St. Cloud State University wrestling team (1-0, 1-0 NSIC) kicked off its 2016-17 dual match and NSIC schedule with a big 36-3 victory at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minn. on Thursday, Dec. 1.
The five-time defending NSIC champs, St. Cloud State won nine of the 10 matches to bring home the victory. Â The Huskies got things rolling at 125-pounds with a 9-0 major decision by Brandon Briggs over SMSU's Taylor Curtis. Â
The victories continued at 133-pounds with a 6-4 win by Jarred Oftedahl and at 141-pounds with a 10-0 major decision by Matt Nelson over SMSU's Zach Beaumaster.  SMSU's lone victory came at 149-pounds with a 7-4 victory by Cortez Arrendondo over Taner Trembley. Â
The Huskies rebounded at 157-pounds with a 17-1 tech fall by Travis Holt and a 15-10 victory by Josh Berg at 165-pounds. Â Clayton Jennissen continued the run for the Huskies with a 10-1 major decision win at 174-pounds followed by a 4-2 win by rookie Kyle Betourne at 184-pounds. Â SCSU wrapped up the victory with a 15-2 major decision win by Vince Dietz at 197-pounds and a injury default win by Mike Hobbs at 285-pounds.
SCSU will continue its season on Dec. 3 with a trip to the UNI Open in Cedar Falls, Iowa on Saturday, Dec. 3. Â Complete results of the match at SMSUÂ are listed below.
