Rafael Saez A First Team All-American After Placing Seventh in Discus

BRADENDON, Fla. – Senior Rafael Saez placed seventh overall in the discus to earn First Team All-American status for the St. Cloud State track and field programs on Friday, May 27, in Bradenton, Fla. at the IMG Academy on the second day of the NCAA Division II Track & Field Championships.
Saez had a toss of 51.40m/168'8" on his second throw of the day to place seventh overall in the discus. His throw, since he recorded a mark that placed in the top eight, makes him a First Team All-American.
Junior Quinn Anderson had a throw of 50.52m/165'9" on his second attempt of the day to finished ninth overall in the discus. His throw, since it was just from 9th-16th place, made him a Second Team All-American.
Senior Ryan Johnson's throw of 50.32m/165'1" on his first attempt of the day placed him 10th overall and made him a Second Team All-American.
The discus was won by Duke Kicinksi of West Texas A&M with his throw of 57.71m/189'4".
On Saturday the program sees freshman Elijah Pitchford competing in the triple jump. He will leap at 4:45 p.m. EST on May 28. Pitchford enters the competition ranking 16th nationally in the event (15.15m/49'8.5")
