SCSU women's tennis completes regular season schedule at Augustana

Huskies to play at NSIC championships on April 22-23
The St. Cloud State University women's tennis team (11-7, 6-5 NSIC) completed its 2017 regular season schedule with a 9-0 loss at NSIC leader Augustana University on Sunday, April 9. Â
The complete results for the match in Sioux Falls, S.D. are listed below.  Augustana scored six wins in singles play and also gained three wins in doubles action against SCSU. Â
The Huskies tied for sixth place in the 2017 regular season stadings, which qualifies them for the upcoming NSICÂ Championship tournament on April 22-23 at the Lifetime Fitness Tennis Complex in Minnetonka, MInn.
SCSUÂ received the #7 seed in the tournament and the Huskies will square off in first round action against #2 seed Upper Iowa at 9 a.m. on April 22. Â In the other first round matches, #1 seed Augustana will play #8 seed Minnesota Duluth at 2 p.m. and #3 seed Winona State will play #6 seed Bemidji State at 11:30 a.m. Â In the final match of the day on April 22, #4 seed Minnesota State Moorhead will play #5 seed Minnesota State, Mankato
The Vikings will take on the eighth seed, Minnesota Duluth on Saturday, April 22 at 2 p.m.
Augustana has now won 88 straight NSIC matches, with its last loss come back to the April 19, 2009 to Minnesota State. Since joining the NSIC in 2008-09, the Viking are 95-3 in NSIC matches, have won eight straight NSIC regular season titles and the last six NSIC Tournaments.Â
Other first round matchups have second seeded Upper Iowa versus seventh seeded St. Cloud State on Saturday, April 22 at 9 a.m. Third seeded Winona State will take on sixth seeded Bemidji State at 11:30 a.m. with the final match of the day being fourth seeded MSU Moorhead versus fifth seeded Minnesota State at 4:30 p.m.Â
Both semifinal matches will be play Sunday, April 23 at 8 a.m. with the championship match set for noon.Â
The winner of the NSIC Women's Tennis Tournament will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Central Region Tournament. The NCAA DII Central Region Tournament will take place on campuses on April 29 through May 2. The NCAA DII Championships (Final 16) will take place on May 10-13 at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Spring, Florida. The NCAA women's tennis selections will be announced on Tuesday, April 25, at 7 p.m. (CT) at www.NCAA.com.
