St. Cloud State soccer on the road to CSP and MSU

The St. Cloud State University soccer team (2-1-2, 1-0-1 NSIC) will hit the road for the first time this season with a pair of NSIC away matches at rivals Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota State University.
On Friday, Sept. 27, the Huskies will travel to Concordia-St. Paul's Sea Foam Stadium for a 5 p.m. The game has been designated as NSIC Day and it will feature a variety of promotions and activities saluting the always rugged Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. CSP enters the game with a 4-0-1, 1-0-1 NSIC record.
On Sunday, Sept. 29, SCSU will venture to Mankato, Minn. for a 1 p.m. match against #2 Minnesota State University (5-0-0, 2-0-0 NSIC) at Nemzek Field.

SCSU SOCCER NEWS AND NOTES:
- St. Cloud State soccer brings a three game unbeaten streak into this weekend's action. The Huskies are 2-0-1 over the past three games, which includes a 3-2 win over defending national champion Bridgeport, a 0-0 tie against defending NSIC champion Bemidji State and a 2-0 win over Minnesota Crookston.
- In the victory over UMC, SCSU's Tatyana Gusakow posted two goals in the contest and Claire Shea had both assists in the game. Gusakow and Shea both pace SCSU on offense this season with four points apiece. Gusakow has the two goals and Shea has one goal and two assists to her credit in 2019. Gusakow now has four career goals in three seasons with the Huskies.
- Goalkeeper Zoe Welsh has been a steady force in the nets for the Huskies this season. She currently has three shutouts to her credit, which includes the 0-0 tie vs. BSU and the 2-0 win over UMC. She has allowed only four goals this season in five games played, which equals a 0.73 GAA with 25 saves to her credit. In her career, Welsh now has nine shutouts in just two seasons of play. SCSU's all-time shutout leader is Kenzie Hanzlik with 17 from 2010-14.
- The Huskies are 10-3-5 in the all-time series against Concordia-St. Paul, which dates back to 2001. Last year, SCSU tied CSP 1-1 on Sept. 21 in St. Cloud. The last time SCSU played at CSP, the Huskies and the Golden Bears tied 3-3 on Sept. 18, 2016. SCSU has tied CSP four times since 2014.
- On Sept. 29, SCSU will play at #2 ranked MSU. Last year, SCSU and Minnesota State tied 1-1 on Sept. 23, 2018 at Husky Stadium. The last time SCSU played a game in Mankato, the Huskies posted a 2-1 victory over the Mavericks on Sept. 16, 2016. One of SCSU's oldest rivals, the Huskies are 7-24-2 in the all-time series against the Mavs and that series dates back to 1995. In the last three meetings against the Mavericks, SCSU is 1-1-1.
- Head coach Gretta Arvesen is in her sixth season with the Huskies. Of note, Arvesen served as an assistant coach at Mankato from 2008 to 2013.
- The games at MSU and CSP will be the first road games for SCSU in 2019.
- The Huskies return home on Oct. 4 for a 4 p.m. NSIC match against Wayne State College. On Oct. 6, the Huskies will host Augustana University at 1 p.m. Both games will be played at Husky Stadium and tickets are available at the gate. All SCSU students with a valid SCSU student ID card will be admitted FREE to both of these important NSIC showdowns.
