Shea’s OT Goal Lifts Huskies over Wayne State on Senior Day

Shea finds the back of the net for the fifth time this season
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Soccer (4-7-2, 4-5-2 NSIC) earned an overtime win over Wayne State (4-7-4, 4-5-3 NSIC) on Sunday afternoon at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud, Minn. Senior forward Claire Shea (Exclesior, Minn.) propelled the Huskies to victory on Senior Day, scoring the game-winning goal in the fourth minute of the second overtime.
Shea was one of four seniors honored by St. Cloud State, as she was joined by Arianna Del Moral (Brooklyn Park, Minn.), Nicole Friis (Appleton, Wis.) and Cassidy Lehrke (Ostego, Minn.).
TURNING POINT
The Huskies controlled the pace of the game throughout, outshooting the Wildcats 36-6 (16-3 shots on goal), but neither team was able to find the back of the net through 90 minutes. In the second overtime, freshman forward Megan Kirby (Navarre, Fla.) found Shea in the middle of the field, where she took a shot from 15-20 yards out that got past the Wayne State goaltender for the win.
