
St. Cloud State Tennis Ready for Home Opener with UW-Stout

Huskies host UW-Stout at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Sta-Fit Tennis Center
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Tennis is set to host Wisconsin Stout for its home-opening match on Sunday, Feb. 27. The match is scheduled to start at 12:30 p.m. CT at Sta-Fit Tennis Center in Sartell, Minn.
The Huskies are coming off a split in its two matches last weekend, falling to Mary, 5-2, on Feb. 19 before beating Minnesota State Moorhead, 4-3, on Feb. 20. The Huskies won each match from the No. 3-6 singles positions against to clinch the victory.
The Huskies shined in singles competition against the Dragons, winning matches at the No. 3, 4, 5 and 6 positions. Freshman Johana Brower (Sioux Falls, S.D.) set the tone with a three-set win at the No. 3 position over Miranda Greichen. After dropping the first set, 1-6, Brower came back to win 7-5 and 6-1 for the victory.
The other three Husky victories were straight set wins, as junior Shanna Kinny (Litchfield, Minn.), Munoz Perez and senior Samantha Fitzpatrick (Rogers, Minn.) won at the No. 4, 5 and 6 positions, respectively. Kinny defeated Tia Dykema, 6-3, 6-2, while Munoz Perez won 7-6 (3), 6-0 over Madison Bell and Fitzpatrick won 6-2, 6-0 over Greta Reichman.
