Huskies fall 5-2; Kinny and Munoz Perez win singles matches
WINONA, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Tennis (5-7, 3-3 NSIC) fell to Winona State, 5-2, in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play on Friday in Winona, Minn. The Huskies earned two wins in singles play, as junior Shanna Kinny (Litchfield, Minn.) and freshman Claudia Munoz Perez (Tarragona, Spain) each picked up victories in the St. Cloud State's first match of the weekend.
DOUBLES
The Huskies dropped the doubles point after falling in each match. At the No. 1 position, freshman Johana Brower (Sioux Falls, S.D.) and Munoz Perez fell 6-2 to Rachel Kelly and Rina Niehoff.
SINGLES
In singles play, Kinny and Munoz Perez were victorious. Kinny needed to comeback after dropping the first set, as she beat Sara Anderson, 2-6, 6-3, 6-1. Munoz Perez won in straight sets, defeating Brooke Holloway, 6-4, 6-3.
