St. Cloud State Tennis Wins 5-2 over CSB for Jerry Anderson Legacy Match

Huskies win five singles matches to earn victory
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Tennis (7-8, 4-4 NSIC) earned its second win in as many days, defeating Saint Benedict, 5-2, on Sunday at the Sta-Fit Tennis Center. After dropping the doubles point, the Huskies came back to win five singles matches to seal the victory against its cross-town rivals.
The match was the annual Jerry Anderson Legacy Match, honoring the late former St. Cloud State head coach.
DOUBLES
Saint Benedict earned the doubles point after winning matches at the No. 1 and 3 positions. At the No. 2 spot, freshman Johana Brower (Sioux Falls, S.D.) and junior Shanna Kinny (Litchfield, Minn.) posted a 6-1 win over Grace Lee and Sophia Jonas.
SINGLES
In singles play, the Huskies won matches at the No. 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6 positions to earn the victory, with each Husky win coming in straight sets. Freshman Arisa Kashima (Saitama, Japan) earned the win at the top spot, beating Lily Fredricks, 6-0, 6-4, while Kinny won 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 3 spot over Greta Nesbit. At the No. 4 spot, Brower won 6-0, 6-2 over Sophia Jonas, while freshman Claudia Muñoz Perez (Tarragona, Spain) won 6-4, 6-4 over Grace Lee and senior Samantha Fitzpatrick (Rogers, Minn.) beat Maria Bedford, 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 5 and 6 spots, respectively.
