
St. Cloud State Tennis Set for NSIC Tournament

Huskies face Augustana in quarterfinals action on Friday at 2:00 p.m. CT in Sioux Falls
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Tennis is set to face Augustana in the quarterfinals of the 2022 NSIC Women's Tennis Tournament on Friday, April 22 at the Huether Family Match Pointe in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The Huskies will be the eight-seed in the tournament, and will face the top-seeded Augustana Vikings on Friday, April 22 at 4:30 p.m. CT. All match start times are subject to change if earlier matches run long. No matches will begin early than the announced start time. Both semifinal matches will be play Saturday, April 23 at 2:00 p.m. CT with the championship match set for Sunday, April 24 at 10 a.m. CT.
St. Cloud State will be making their first appearance in the NSIC Tournament since 2017 when the Huskies beat Upper Iowa in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals. St. Cloud State has five NSIC Tournament Championships to its credit, taking home titles in 1980, 1982, 1983, 2009 and 2010.
The Huskies closed the regular season with a 9-10 record and a 4-6 mark in NSIC play, earning victories over conference foes Minnesota Crookston (6-1, Feb. 4), Bemidji State (4-3, Feb. 5), Minnesota State Moorhead (4-3, Feb. 20) and Minnesota Duluth (5-2, March 26). St. Cloud State has been led by exceptional play from the back-half of its singles lineup for the entirety of the season, producing marks of 12-7 at No. 3, 14-5 at No. 4, 15-3 at No. 5 and 13-5 at No. 6. Freshman Claudia Munoz Perez (Tarragona, Spain) has had a fantastic first season in the red and black with a singles record of 15-3 (12-2 at No. 5), while senior Samantha Fitzpatrick (Rogers, Minn.) has posted a mark of 13-5, including a 10-4 record at No. 6.
