Munoz Perez and Fitzpatrick earn wins in singles play
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Tennis (9-9, 4-5 NSIC) fell to Minnesota State Mankato, 5-2, on Friday evening at the Sta-Fit Tennis Center. The loss snapped the Huskies' four-game win streak as the moved to 4-5 in league play with one game remaining.
DOUBLES
The Huskies dropped the doubles point after losing all three matches in doubles competition. At the No. 2 position, freshman Johana Brower (Sioux Falls, S.D.) and junior Shanna Kinny (Litchfield, Minn.) played a close match, falling 6-4 to Elizabeth Felderman and Hana Minisy.
SINGLES
In the singles portion of the match, the Huskies dropped the match after falling in four of six matches. At the No. 5 spot, freshman Claudia Muñoz Perez (Tarragona, Spain) had a dominant win (6-1, 6-2) over Taylor Julsruo and senior Samantha Fitzpatrick (Rogers, Minn.) was able to win a close match over Brynn Psooy in the No. 6 spot (6-1, 4-6, 10-7).
UP NEXT
The Huskies will take on Southwest Minnesota State to close out the regular season on Sunday, April 10 at Sta- Fit Tennis Center. The match is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. CT.
