St. Cloud State Softball Opens NSIC Play hosting Mid-Week Tilt

Huskies open conference play with double-header against UMD
ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The St. Cloud State softball team gears up to open Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play on Tuesday, March 28 for a mid-week tilt. The Huskies will host the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs for a double-header at the Husky Dome at 1:00 p.m. CT and 3:00 p.m. CT.

A Look Back
The Huskies went 4-1 two weekends ago. The Huskies split their double-header against Concordia-St. Paul on Friday, Mar. 17 falling 6-4 in game one before bouncing back 6-5 in game two. On Saturday Mar. 18, St. Cloud State took down UW-Parkside 2-1 before shutting out Bemidji State 13-0. SCSU closed the weekend on Mar. 19, downing Parkside 12-2.

Huskies in the Record Book
Graduate student designated player Jasmin Estrada sealed herself in the Huskies Record Book as the program's new all-time career RBI holder. Estrada blasted a three-run home run to break the program's career RBI record and earned the Huskies a doubleheader split with CSP. Estrada established the new career mark for RBI with 170, passing the legendary Brooke Gentzler's mark of 161.

NSIC Player of the Week
Jasmin Estrada was named the NSIC Player of the Week on March 20 for her weekend performance from March 17-19. Estrada helped the Huskies go 4-1 over three days where she went 8-for-16 through four games. She tallied 11 RBIs adding seven runs, five extra base hits, three home runs, and two doubles.

St. Cloud State Huskies
St. Cloud State enters the mid-week 15-10 overall. Huskies went 4-1 in their last five games. Sydney Trees currently leads the Huskies lineup as she is batting .417 with an OBP of .528 while slugging .611 ranking her seventh in the conference for hitting. Additionally, Trees has 30 hits, 17 RBIs, five doubles, and three home runs on the season. Jasmin Estrada is batting .375 with an OBP of .419 while slugging .638. Additionally, Estrada has 30 hits, 25 RBIs, six doubles, and five home runs on the season. Estrada ranks third in RBI and fifth for home runs in the conference. Right-handed pitcher Trinity Junker owns a 9-3 record where she has struck out 85 batters in 70.0 innings pitched with an ERA of 2.70.
Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs
Minnesota Duluth enters the mid-week 14-5 overall. The Bulldogs haven't played a softball game in over a month as their last matchup was on Feb. 25. Minnesota Duluth has the cleanest defense in the Northern Sun as they have committed only 13 errors in 19 games while their pitching has gone to work in the circle with an ERA of 1.92 in 123.2 innings pitched. Senior catcher Sidney Zavoral is leading the Bulldogs as she is batting .375 with an OBP of .423 while slugging .708. Additionally, Zavoral has 18 hits, 16 RBIs, four home runs, two doubles, and one triple on the season. Senior pitcher Mady Statriha owns a 12-8 record with an ERA of 1.82 while junior pitcher Lauren Dixon is 11-8 with 49 strikeouts in 42.1 innings pitched with a 3.19 ERA.
