St. Cloud State Softball Sweeps Final Day at Spring Games

Huskies defeat Ferris State 5-3, down Cedarville 9-1 in five innings
CLERMONT, Florida - The St. Cloud State softball will be heading back home with a sweep on the last day of the Spring Games. The Huskies defeated Ferris State 5-3 and downed Cedarville 9-1 in five innings.
GAME ONE: ST. CLOUD STATE (5) VS FERRIS STATE (3)
The Huskies took an early three run lead in the first inning. St. Cloud would be held scoreless for the next four innings. Ferris State would add a run in the second, sixth, and seventh innings but the Huskies would increase their lead tallying their own runs in the sixth and seventh. St. Cloud would come away with a 5-3 win over the Bulldogs tallying 13 hits on the day.
GAME TWO: ST. CLOUD STATE (9) VS CEDARVILLE (1)
Cedarville may have marked the first score of the game but from there it was all the Huskies. Maggie Fitzgerald blasted a solo home run to tie the game up at 1-1 in the second inning. St. Cloud would then go on a scoring charge in the third tallying four runs. Jasmin Estrada and Fitzgerald tallied RBIs in the inning. The Huskies defense was spot on as Cedarville couldn't make a dent. St. Cloud would tally two runs in the fourth and fifth inning to end the game 9-1 after five.
UP NEXT
The Huskies will head back home to Minnesota to rest for a week before they hit the road. St. Cloud will take part in the Missouri Western Invite Mar. 17 through Mar. 19. The Huskies are slated to play six games while down in St. Joseph, Missouri.
