Jasmin Estrada crushes walk-off three-run homer in game two to push career RBI total to 162
ST. CLOUD, Minn. - St. Cloud State Softball (12-10, 0-0 NSIC) graduate student designated player Jasmin Estrada blasted a walk-off three-run home run to break the program's career RBI record and earn the Huskies a doubleheader split with Concordia-St. Paul (11-11, 0-0 NSIC) on Friday evening at the Husky Dome.
Estrada's blast establishes a new career mark for RBI with 162, passing the legendary Brooke Gentzler's mark of 161.
Game One: Concordia-St. Paul 6, St. Cloud State 4
A four-run Golden Bear second did the Huskies in as they fell 6-4 in game one. Sydney Trees (2-for-4, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI) opened the game with a bang, crushing a long solo home run to right on her first swing of the game as the leadoff hitter. CSP responded with a four-spot and tacked one more on an inning later, taking a 5-1 lead into the fifth.
After the Golden Bears added another in the top half, Holly Weinberger (1-for-4) and Raven Vanden Langenberg (2-for-4, RBI) each plated a run to cut the SCSU deficit to 6-3. Trees added an RBI single in the sixth, but that would be all St. Cloud State would get the rest of the way.
Justyce Porter threw extremely well in relief, allowing a lone unearned run on one hit over 3.0 innings of work while striking out two. Lydia Krueger (2-for-3, R) added a multi-hit game for St. Cloud State in the loss.
Game Two: St. Cloud State 6, Concordia-St. Paul 5
Emma Eickhoff (4.2 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K) kept the Golden Bears quiet through three innings in the nightcap as the Huskies loaded the bases for pinch-hitter Evy Polsfuss (1-for-1, 2B, 3 RBI) in the home half. Polsfuss laced a three-run double off the right field wall, putting SCSU up 3-0. CSP responded with three of their own in the top of the fourth to knot things up, taking the lead in the sixth with two runs in the frame.
Down 5-3 heading into the home half of the seventh, Holly Weinberger (2-for-4) lined a one-out single into left. Raven Vanden Langenberg (1-for-4, R) welcomed a new pitcher to the game with a single pulled into left field, then Jasmin Estrada (3-for-4, 2 R, HR, 3 RBI) unloaded on an opposite-field three-run moonshot to walk off Concordia-St. Paul and secure the doubleheader split.
Estrada, Weinberger and Josey Marquette (2-for-3, R) each supplied multi-hit games in the win. Justyce Porter earned the win in relief with 2.1 innings of work, striking out three.
