St. Cloud State Tennis Falls 5-2 to Winona State

Huskies lose third consecutive match
Winona, Minn. – St. Cloud State Tennis (3-5, 1-2 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) dropped their third consecutive match as they were defeated 5-2 by Winona State (5-6, 1-3 NSIC). The Huskies lost all three doubles matches as the Warriors secured the doubles point. Winona State would go on to win four of the six singles matches as they walked away with a 5-2 victory.
DOUBLES
St. Cloud State was defeated in all three doubles matches as they fell into a 0-1 hole. In the No. 1 spot, junior Claudia Muñoz Perez (Tarragona, Spain) and freshman Lara-Maria Schaefer (Nuremberg, Germany) were defeated 3-6 by Sara Anderson and Skylar Gary. Junior Johana Brower (Sioux Falls, S.D.) and junior Maria Paz Aoki (Marcos Paz, Argentina) were defeated 3-6 as the Warriors clinched the doubles point. In the No. 3 spot, sophomore Oriana Grott (Warsaw, Poland) and freshman Brooklyn Broadwell (Thief Rivers Falls, Minn.) battled with Elysia Beynon and Clara Thoemke, but were ultimately defeated 6(5)-7(7) in the tiebreaker.
SINGLES
Moving into singles play, the Warriors made quick work of the Huskies as they won the first three matches, all of which in straight sets, to clinch the victory. Paz Aoki was able to pick up a 6-4, 6-3 victory in the No. 2 spot. Muñoz Perez was the only other Husky to capture a victory as she took down Sara Anderson 6-3, 7-5 in the No. 1 spot. Brower was defeated by injury default as she was retired from the match while leading 3-2 in the second set. With four singles victories, the Warriors were able to capture a 5-2 win over the Huskies.
