10 Huskies Place at Worthington Open with Four Top Three Finishes

Cole Glazier takes title at 174
St. Cloud, Minn.- No. 1 St. Cloud State Wrestling competed in the Worthington Open Saturday morning. The Huskies placed 10 wrestlers with four earning top three finishes.

At 174 pounds, Cole Glazier took the lone title for the Huskies in the event. Glazier picked up two pins in the first two rounds before coming away with a 6-0 decision against Owen Wasley of Augustana in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Glazier came away with his third bons point win of the day with a 22-5 tech fall. In the championship round, Glazier defeated Travis Smith of Northern State 5-0 to take the title.

At 285 pounds, Vito Massa claimed second place. In the first three rounds, Massa won each of his bouts by fall to reach the semifinals. He would then defeat Regan Bollweg of South Dakota State 15-8 to reach the championship round. Massa would be defeated 9-4 in the title match against Shilo Jones of North Dakota State to finish second.

Wrestling at 125 pounds, Austin Grzywinski placed third in the open. Grzywinski received an opening round bye before earning two decision victories to reach the semifinals. He would then be pinned in his semifinal bout against Ezekiel Witt of North Dakota State to move to the third place match. Grzywinski faced off against Kody Tanimoto of North Dakota State where he came up with a clutch takedown to win 4-1 in sudden victory.

Wrestling at 174, Dominic Mann was the final top-three finisher for the Huskies. Mann received an opening round bye before picking up two decision victories to advance to the semifinals. Facing off against Travis Smith, Mann would be defeated 5-2 and head to the third place match. Mann came away with a top-three finish after winning 11-8 against Sam Rock of Minnesota West Comm & Tech to take third place.

Other Huskies to place in the event include Leo Edblad (8th, 125), Jayce Luna (5th, 141), Mason Carpenter (6th, 157), Jeroen Smith (6th, 157), Brody Hart (6th, 165), and Gabriel Smith (6th, 165).
