SCSU Softball Falls to Central Missouri and Northwest Missouri State

St. Joseph, MO – The St. Cloud State University softball team competed in their second day at the Missouri Western Invite today in St. Joseph, Missouri. The Huskies fell to Central Missouri 2-7 and were defeated by Northwest Missouri State 3-8.
The Huskies drop to 4-11 overall and will continue action tomorrow at the Missouri Western Invite as they take on Pittsburg State at 2 p.m. and Missouri Southern at 4 p.m. Both games will be streamed via live stats. SCSU vs. Central Missouri:
St. Cloud State combined for two runs on six hits. Central Missouri posted seven runs off of eight hits.
Kelly Franks (Stevens Point, Wis.) started on the mound for the Huskies. Franks pitched 4.2 innings, giving up five hits and striking out five. Senna Francesconi (Schomberg, Ontario) relieved Franks for the final 2.1 innings.
Kelsie Fitch (Carver) went one for two at the plate and collected the only RBI for the Huskies against Central Missouri.

The Huskies combined for three runs off of six hits in their 3-8 loss to Northwest Missouri.
Rebecca Harps (Yucaipa, Calif.) led St. Cloud State offensively, going two for three at the plate.
Jessica Goerger (Mankato) and Tricia DeBoer (Blooming Prairie) each recorded an RBI single for the Huskies.
Kendra Merritt (Fort Lupton, Colo.) started on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings and giving up six hits and striking out three before being relieved by Senna Francesconi. Francesconi pitched 3.2 innings, gave up just three hits and struck out three.
