Yira nabs first place in triple jump at Snowshoe Open on Feb. 20

Jordan Yira led the St. Cloud State University men's track and field team at the 2015 University of Minnesota Snowshoe Open with a first place finish in the triple jump on Saturday, Feb. 20. Â The meet was held at the University of Minnesota's Fieldhouse in Minneapolis.
Yira nabbed the top spot with an effort of 42-01.50 feet (12.84m). Â He also placed eighth in the long jump at 20-06.25 (6.25m) at the Snowshoe Open.
In the 60 meter dash at the Snowshoe Open, SCSU's Shaheed Hickman placed third with a time of 6.91 and teammate Myles Witcher placed fifth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.90. Â SCSU's 4x400 relay squad of JoVonte Suber, Isaiah Pitchford, Marcus Welk and Wyatt Vernon charted a second place finish with a time of 3:19.76.
SCSU's Rafael Saez added a fifth place finish in the shot put with a throw of 51-01.50 (15.59m) in the meet's Invitiational division. Â In the meet's Open division, SCSU's Curtwan Evans placed first in the shot put at 48-00.50 (14.64m) and Quinn Anderson placed fifth with a throw of 45-00.25 (13.72m). Â Another top placer for the Huskies in the field events was Ryan Johnson, who added a third place finish in the weight throw at 60-04.50 (18.40m).
St. Cloud State's women's track and field team competed in the University of Minnesota Parent's Day Open on Feb. 21 at the U. of M. Fieldhouse in Minneapolis. Â At the meet, the Huskies were led by Heather Clankie with a seventh place finish in the shot put at 38-00.75 (11.60m) and Cassandra Cardinal, who placed eighth in the shot at 34-06.25 (10.52m).

St. Cloud State at NSIC Championships on Feb 26-27
The SCSU men's and women's track and field teams will continue their 2015 seasons with a trip to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference indoor championships at Minnesota State University, Mankato on Feb. 26-Feb. 27.
The NSIC championships will be held in the Myers Fieldhouse at Minnesota State, Mankato and the action begins at Noon on Feb. 26 and at 10 a.m. on Feb. 27. Â Ticket prices are $6 for adult and $4 for students and seniors (children under five are admitted free). Â Tickets available for purchase at doors of the Myers Field House.
