Huskies track and field claim five firsts at Hamline Invitational

St. Paul, Minn. – The St. Cloud State men's and women's track and field teams had a solid outing at the Hamline Invitational held Saturday, April 11 in St. Paul.
The women's squad brought home three first place finishes while the men's team captured two firsts.
Results
The women's 4x100 relay of Patience Yalartai, Becky Schmidt, Jasmine Grant and Alicia Evans won the race in 48.96.
Becky Schmidt captured first in the long jump with a mark of 18-01.50. Patience Yalartai was first in the triple jump with a leap of 39-05.75. Yalartai also had a second place finish in the long jump with a mark of 18-01.00.
Other top five finishes for the women included a fifth place finish for Lindsey Klug in the 100 meter hurdles. She ran the event in 15.79. Huskies placed fourth and fifth in the discus as Heather Clankie claimed a fourth place finish with a throw of 138-08 and Cassandra Cardinal placed fifth with a toss of 133-08.
On the men's side, Keyshawn Davis claimed first place in the long jump with a mark of 23-07.25. Marcus Welk went 15-01.00 to capture first in the pole vault.
Other top finishes included a fourth place finish in the 400 meters by JoVonte Suber in a time of 48.60. Isaiah Pitchford placed fifth in the 200 meter dash in 22.46. Quinn Anderson placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 158-11.
Ryan Johnson finished the day with three top four finishes. He was second in the hammer throw with a mark of 181-07, third in the discus with a toss of 160-09 and fourth in the shot put with a mark of 50-10.00.
