Senior Ryan Johnson Named NSIC Indoor Field Male Athlete of the Week

ST CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State senior thrower Ryan Johnson was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Indoor Field Male Athlete of the Week by the league office on Feb. 9.
Johnson, a senior from Amery, Wis., won the weight toss at the Ted Nelson Classic in Mankato, Minn. over the weekend with his toss of 19.27m/63'02.75". The mark improved on his previous NCAA provisional qualifying mark. It was also the longest throw in the NSIC this season and the ninth-best throw in all of Division II in 2016. The win in the weight throw was the third time that Johnson has earned a victory in the event this season.
Johnson also placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 15.38m/50'05.50".
He is the first SCSU indoor male athlete to be named the NSIC Athlete of the Week since Keyshawn Davis took home the honors in January 2015.
Johnson was previously named the NSIC's Outdoor Field Male Athlete of the Week last April.
Johnson and the rest of both the men's and women's indoor track & field programs resume competition this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 12-13, at the Jackrabbit Invite/D2 Challenge on the campus of South Dakota State.
