ST. CLOUD, Minn. - In two non-conference games against Bemidji State, the St. Cloud State softball team (5-1, 0-0 NSIC) opened their weekend with two wins in the Husky Dome on Thursday, Feb. 28. Leading the way for SCSU on Thursday was Kate Kopeck's complete game gem in the circle in the opening contest of the night, then Jasmin Estrada's five RBI, 3-3 day at the plate that included her first collegiate home run.

Game One | SCSU 6, BSU 2
Behind a stellar complete game effort from senior right-hander Kate Kopeck, the Huskies were able to take the opening game of the Thursday night series 6-2. Kopeck struck out nine, walked two and only allowed one earned run while scattering five hits across seven innings of work.

After two scoreless innings to start the first game of the weekend for SCSU, the Beavers struck first to take a 1-0 lead after an unearned run against Kate Kopeck. The Huskies would then take a 2-1 lead in the third after Brooke Bowlin recorded the first RBI and run scored of the game for SCSU.
St. Cloud State would build on their lead in the fourth after Bowlin would pick up two more RBI's, then Morgan Emmans put SCSU up 5-1 with a solo shot to left center field.

Following Emmans' third homer of the year, Raven Vanden Langenberg would pick up her sixth RBI of the season to put SCSU up 6-1.

Game Two | SCSU 9, BSU 1
Jumping out to a 4-1 lead, the Huskies did not look back in their Thursday night cap, defeating Bemidji State 9-1.
Jasmin Estrada recorded her first collegiate home run for SCSU, a three-run shot that gave SCSU their 4-1 advantage in the first inning. Estrada paced the Huskies' efforts at the plate, going 3-3 with 5 RBI's.
Raven Vanden Langenberg recorded her second career home run, a solo shot that was then followed by a RBI double from Haley McFarlane to put SCSU up 6-1.
After a scoreless third inning, SCSU posted a three-run fourth inning that included Estrada's third hit of the game as well as a double from Morgan Emmans.

Sydney Lapointe gave the Huskies a quality start with three innings pitched and two strikeouts. Kylie Thomsen would provide two innings of relief to close out the ball game for SCSU.

St. Cloud State returns to action on Saturday, March 2nd in the Husky Dome at 11 am and 1 PM against Viterbo University.
