St. Cloud State Softball Road Trips to North Dakota for Two NSIC Doubleheaders

Huskies set to play UMary & Minot State at MSU Dome
ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The St. Cloud State softball team has one conference meeting under their belt and is gearing up for two more. After hosting Minnesota Duluth for a mid-week tilt, the Huskies will travel to North Dakota for two conference doubleheaders this weekend.

The Huskies face UMary at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. CT on Saturday and Minot State at 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. CT on Sunday. Due to the weather and field conditions, the doubleheader against UMary will be played at Minot State on Saturday.

A Look Back
The Huskie split their NSIC opener earlier this week. St. Cloud State took game one of the doubleheader before falling in game two. SCSU scored two in the fourth and one in the fifth for a 3-1 victory off seven hits while committing one error in game one. In game two, the Huskies struggled to get anything past the Bulldogs' pitcher with only three hits to fall 4-0.

St. Cloud State Huskies
After the mid-week, St. Cloud State moves to 16-11 overall, 1-1 in conference play. The Huskies moved to 1-3 against Minnesota Duluth this season. SCSU currently sits seventh in the conference standings however, every team in the league has only played two games so the standings will look different after the weekend. St. Cloud State's battings ranks fourth in the conference, slashing .303/.388/.417. Sydney Trees is leading the Huskies lineup slashing .397/.510/.577 with 31 hits, 24 runs, and 17 RBIs. Holly Weinberger is leading with 32 hits while Jasmin Estrada has 31 hits and leading team RBI with 26. Trinity Junker owns a 10-3 mark with 93 strikeouts in 77.0 innings with a 2.00 ERA.

Senior Jamie Odlum will return to where she began her collegiate career this weekend. Odlum spent the last four seasons with Minot State before spending her last year at St. Cloud State. With the Beavers, she has played in 152 games slashing .391/.476/.543 for a 1.019 OPS while producing 34 doubles, nine triples, five home runs and 86 RBI. Odlum is fifth all-time in batting average (.391) and career hits (173) for the Beavers.

UMary Marauders
UMary sits 5-16 overall and 0-2 in conference play. The Marauders were swept in their mid-week tilt with Minot State. UMary fell 3-2 in game one before being shutout 8-0 in five innings in game two. The Marauders have gone 3-7 in their last ten matchups dropping the last three games. Freshman Janelle Bergmann leads the Marauders in batting average (.419) and OBP (.510). Junior outfielder Brooke De Jonge leads in slugging (.510) while batting .353 with an OBP of .404 with 18 hits, 12 RBI, and one home run. Junior right-handed pitcher Nicole Eckhardt owns a 4-3 record with an ERA of 5.00.

Minot State Beavers
Minot State enters the weekend 15-9 overall, 2-0 in conference play. The Beavers swept UMary 3-2 and 8-0 in five innings in their mid-week conference opener. Minot State holds a perfect 6-0 record over their last six games. MSU comes in with the third best batting line in the conference slashing .319/.422/.444 over 24 games. Junior Izzy Penner leads the Beavers in batting average (.444) and OPS (.595). Freshman Paige Kellogg is slashing a .415/.458/.707 with 17 hits and 15 RBIs on the season. Freshman right-handed pitcher Calley Olson is 6-1 striking out 38 batters in 44.1 innings pitched with a 3.47 ERA.
