St. Cloud State Softball Takes Midweek Series with Minnesota Crookston

Huskies shutout 10-0 in game one, down Golden Eagles 10-3 in game two
ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The St. Cloud State Softball team (23-14, 8-4 NSIC) swept their midweek series with Minnesota Crookston (13-22, 1-9 NSIC) at the CSB Softball Field in St. Joseph, Minn. The Huskies opened strong in game one shutting out UMC 10-0 in five innings and took game two in a 10-3 victory.
GAME ONE: ST. CLOUD STATE (10) VS MINNESOTA CROOKSTON (0)
The Huskies set the standard in the first inning scoring six runs off six hits. Raven Vanden Langenberg's first at-bat saw a two-run home run that would put SCSU up 3-0. St. Cloud State added another run off a RBI single by Lydia Krueger and a sacrifice fly by Madison Spah allowed Jamie Odlum to score unearned. A wild pitch to third base would push Krueger past home plate for the 6-0 lead.
The Huskies would add three more runs in the second and one in the top of the fifth for a five inning 10-0 shutout. Trinity Junker recorded her fourth shutout of the season striking out six batters and allowing only four hits. Odlum went 2-for-3 with two RBIs while Vanden Langenberg went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a homerun.
GAME TWO: ST. CLOUD STATE (10) VS MINNESOTA CROOKSTON (3)
The Huskies would take game two with 10 runs scored off 12 hits with zero errors. St. Cloud State got things rolling in the second inning as Krueger RBI singled to left center for the first run. Spah recorded an RBI triple and then would advance home off a throwing error for the 3-0 lead. In the third, Jasmin Estrada blasted a two-run home run over the left center fence for the 6-0 lead.
Minnesota Crookston would get one back in the third and two in the fourth for a 6-4 score in favor of SCSU. The Golden Eagles would score their three runs off ten hits through the two innings. In the bottom of the fifth and the lineup back at Estrada, she would send her second home run of the day over the fence for another two-run home run putting the Huskies up 8-3. St. Cloud State would add two more in the sixth while the defense held off the Golden Eagles for the 10-3 victory.
Emma Eickhoff earned her fifth win of the season where she struck out three batters with six hits and three runs allowed in 4.0 innings. Justyce Porter recorded a save striking out three batters while allowing four hits in 3.0 innings pitched. Estrada went 3-for-4 tallying four RBIs, two home runs and a double. Spah went 2-for-3 recording two RBIs, and two extra base hits.
