St. Cloud State Softball Closes Regular Season with Two Home Series

Huskies celebrate Senior Day on Sunday
ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The St. Cloud State softball team (29-16, 14-6 NSIC) gears up to close their regular season with two NSIC home series. The Huskies will take on Augustana (33-12, 20-4 NSIC) and Wayne State (12-36, 7-18 NSIC) on Saturday, Apr. 29 and Sunday, Apr. 30 at Selke Field.

Saturday's doubleheader will kick off at 11:00 a.m. & 1:00 p.m. CT while Sunday is set for 12:00 p.m. & 2:00 p.m. CT. The NSIC Network will provide the game stream while live stats will be provided on the SCSU softball schedule page. A Look Back
The Huskies were finally able to play a ballgame on their home turf taking on Bemidji State for a midweek matchup. St. Cloud State shined in their Selke Field debut with a sweep of the Beavers. SCSU shutout BSU 8-0 in game one after five innings thanks to a walk-off two-run home run by Raven Vanden Langenberg. The Huskies were able to keep the Beavers at bay for a 5-1 victory in game two.

St. Cloud State Huskies
St. Cloud State enters the weekend 29-16 overall, 14-6 in conference while sitting fifth in the conference standings, two games behind fourth place MSU Moorhead. The Huskies offense is slashing .308/.393/.446 while from the circle, SCSU's pitching has a combined ERA of 2.75 placing both categories third in the conference.

Holly Weinberger leads in batting average (.374) and hits (55) while Jasmin Estrada leads in slugging (.653) thanks to 14 doubles and nine home runs on the season. Jamie Odlum has gone 13-for-13 in stolen bases while Raven Vanden Langenberg has 44 runs scored. Trinity Junker owns a 15-6 record with 149 strikeouts through 124.1 innings with an ERA of 2.08 while Justyce Porter has been great in relief tallying three saves with 45 strikeouts through 60.0 innings with a 1.87 ERA.

Augustana Vikings
Augustana enters the weekend 33-12 overall, 20-4 in conference play. Augustana is currently in a battle for first place in the conference with Minnesota Duluth. Both teams are at a standstill at 20-4. Augustana is 5-1 in their last six games with sweeps of Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State while they split with Southwest Minnesota State. The Vikings currently have the best offense in the league slashing .361/.447/.620 with 442 hits and 68 home runs. Senior catcher Torri Chute leads in batting average (.432) while junior infielder Kennedy Buckman is leading the team in slugging (.871) thanks to 19 home runs. From the circle sophomore pitcher Hailey Houston owns a 16-3 record with 92 strikeouts through 117.2 innings with a 2.32 ERA. Junior pitcher Lexi Lander is 14-7 with 73 strikeouts through 112.0 with a 2.94 ERA.

St. Cloud State and Augustana first met in 1981 with the Vikings leading the all-time series 74-35 over the Huskies. Last season, the SCSU split their regular season series with Augie before falling to the Vikings in the NSIC Tournament.

Wayne State Wildcats
Wayne State enters the weekend 12-36 overall, 7-18 in conference play while sitting 14th in the conference standings. WSC is 2-4 in their last six games, splitting with Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State while falling to Sioux Falls. Senior outfielder Riley Holmberg is leading in batting average (.393), OBP (.436) and hits (66) while ranking sixth in the conference for hitting. Sophomore pitcher Grace Lucka is 4-12 on the season while striking out 59 batters through 101.0 innings with a 5.20 ERA.
