Huskies to play inaugural outdoor games at Husky Stadium Friday, honor seniors Saturday
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Softball (34-13, 13-6 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) to home this weekend for its final regular season home games of the season. The Huskies play MSU Moorhead (14-33, 6-14 NSIC) on Friday and Northern State (10-31, 4-16 NSIC) on Saturday. Both doubleheaders are set for noon and 2 p.m. from Husky Stadium in St. Cloud.
FIRST OUTDOOR GAMES AT HUSKY STADIUM
Friday's games will be the first ever played outdoors at Husky Stadium. To read the release from April 2024 announcing the move to Husky Stadium from Selke Field after 44 seasons, click here.
SENIOR DAY
On Saturday, the program will recognize the team's six seniors; right handed pitcher Emma Eickhoff (Becker, Minn.), infielder Maggie Fitzgerald (Oak Lawn, Ill.), right handed pitcher Molly Gross (Columbia Heights, Minn.), catcher/outfielder Reese Holzhueter (Shakopee, Minn.), infielder Evy Polsfuss (Apple Valley, Minn.) and utility Rainna Stangle (Sartell, Minn.) in between games.

SERIES HISTORY
MSU Moorhead
The Huskies are 74-26 all-time against MSU Moorhead and are 7-3 in the last 10 matchups against the Dragons. SCSU split the 2024 series in Moorhead, winning the first game 5-0 and dropping the second, 4-3 in 10 innings.
Northern State
SCSU is 39-11 all-time against the Wolves and have won 9 of the last 11 matchups. The Huskies took the 2024 series, 2-1, winning a nonconference tilt during the Kelly Laas Invitational Tournament in the Husky Dome in St. Cloud in early February 3-2, before splitting the conference doubleheader in Aberdeen in April. SCSU dropped game one, 8-5, but came back to win game two, 11-3 in six innings.

SCHOOL RECORD ALERT
After drawing a walk in the 10-3 victory over Concordia-St. Paul on April 6, senior infielder Maggie Fitzgerald (Oak Lawn, Ill.) broke her tie with Morgan Emmans (2016-19) to become the program lead in career walks, with 91.
FIRST RANKED WIN SINCE 2023
The Huskies beat No. 10 Augustana, 5-2 on Friday, marking the program's first win against a ranked opponent since March 5, 2023, when SCSU beat No. 8 Grand Valley State 1-0 in Florida. The win also snapped a three-game losing streak against ranked opponents and was the Vikings first conference loss of the season.
NFCA DII PLAYER OF THE YEAR WATCHLIST
Sophomore infielder Brooke Holmes (Savage, Minn.) was named the 2025 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Player of the Year watchlist, as announced by the organization on March 27.
In total, 116 student-athletes from across the country were revealed as part of the 2025 NFCA Division II Player and Pitcher of the Year watchlist. Holmes is one of four position players from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) to be named to the list along with one pitcher. In all, the group consists of 88 programs from 21 different conferences.
The Player of the Year award was created in 2015 to honor the outstanding athletic achievements among softball student-athletes throughout NCAA Division II. In 2019, the Association expanded the award to include a Player and Pitcher of the Year.

NSIC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sophomore infielder Brooke Holmes (Savage, Minn.) was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Player of the Week by the league office on Feb. 24. It was the first weekly conference award of her career, and she became the first Husky to earn weekly honors this season.

St. Cloud State was selected to finish seventh in the 2025 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the league office on January 23. Additionally, senior infielder Maggie Fitzgerald (Oak Lawn, Ill.) was named the Player to Watch, and junior right-handed pitcher Justyce Porter (Kent, Wash.) was named the Pitcher to Watch.
Head Coach Mitch Roberts enters his fourth season at the helm of the Huskies Softball in 2025. He has record of 100-64 (.610) and led last year's team to a 30-26 overall record, including 12-16 record in NSIC play, to finish eighth in the standings. The Huskies took down ninth-seeded Sioux Falls in the opening round of the NSIC Tournament, 6-2, before falling to the hosts and eventual champions, Augustana, 6-0 in the quarterfinals.
