St. Cloud State Softball Splits on Second Day of Desert Stinger

Las Vegas, Nev. -- St. Cloud State University split a pair of softball games Saturday at the Desert Stinger in Las Vegas. The Huskies started the day with a 4-3 win over Cal Baptist and lost to Western New Mexico University 13-6 Saturday night.
St. Cloud State is 2-2 overall and will play the University of Mary on Sunday to finish the weekend.

Senior catcher Mikayla Hogan (Chippewa Falls, Wis.) hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to secure the Huskies second win of the season.
First year center fielder Taylor Thomas (Fontana, Calif.) hit a two run homer in the first inning to give the Huskies a 2-0 lead. Cal Baptist scored two runs in the second inning on a two-run homer and then scored the go-ahead run in the sixth inning.
Hogan went two-for-four in the game and Thomas finished three for three in the game. Senior second base player Danielle Rahn (Orono) also had two hits for the Huskies.
Sophomore pitcher Kelly Franks (Stevens Point, Wis.) earned the decision, pitching 4.2 innings, striking out seven batters and giving up one run.
