Softball Wraps Up Regular Season This Week

SCSU welcomes in MSU Moorhead on Wednesday and takes on University of Mary and Minot State over the Weekend in North Dakota
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The St. Cloud State softball team (23-26, 9-15 NSIC) finishes regular season play in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) this week by hosting MSU Moorhead and then gets on the road to play against University of Mary and Minot State. The Huskies are slated to take on MSU Moorhead (14-26, 7-17 NSIC) in a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 20, at 3 p.m. SCSU then travels to Bismarck, N.D. to square off against Mary (14-28, 8-15 NSIC) for two games on Saturday, April 23, at 1 p.m. The team's final regular season games of the season are on Sunday, April 24, at noon in Minot, N.D. against Minot State (15-26, 4-19 NSIC).

Senior Day – Senna Francesconi
After this week, SCSU softball will await word of the team's potential matchup in the NSIC Softball Tournament starting on Thursday April 28 in Sioux Falls, S.D. at Sherman Park. The double elimination tournament that is played on two fields will conclude on Saturday, April 30. The top 10 teams in the final NSIC standings secure bids into the tournament. The Huskies enter the week sitting in 11th place in the conference with six games to play.

Senior Day – Senna Francesconi
- This year each of St. Cloud State's four senior softball players has chosen a day to have their Senior Day on.
- On April 20, senior Senna Francesconi will be honored and recognized.
- Francesconi is from Schomberg, Ontario and has been a three-year member of the softball team at SCSU after transferring from Georgian Court following her freshman season.
- She was named to the 2015 NSIC All-Academic Team
- Francesconi has made 88 career appearances and 52 starts in the circle in her career.
- She has 25 career wins, 20 complete games, a pair of shutouts and 274 strikeouts in 354.2 innings thrown
- In 2016, Francesconi leads the team with her 11 wins, 28 appearances, 24 games started, 10 complete games, 145.1 innings pitched and 93 strikeouts.
- She has twice struck out nine batters in a game in her career.
- Francesconi threw a career-high 10.1 innings against Wayne State College on April 17
- The daughter of Cliff and Tracey Francesconi is a statistics major at SCSU.

- The Marauders will play against Minnesota Crookston on Wednesday, April 20, and then has a non-conference match-up with Dickinson State on Thursday, April 21, before welcoming in SCSU for Saturday's games, April 23.
- Saturday's games against the University of Mary is Breast Cancer Awareness Day for the Marauders.
- UMary has been led by Taylor Mendez this season, who is hitting .402 with 34 runs, 53 hits, six doubles, 13 home runs, 31 RBIs, 98 total bases, a .742 slugging percentage and an on-base percentage of .451
- Alana Norma has totaled 53 hits and 22 runs with her .371 batting average.
- Amber Gamboa sports a .336 batting average, 37 hits and 19 RBIs

- The Beavers swept both games on the road over Concordia-St. Paul last weekend and had a 3-3 overall record last week.
- Minot State plays against Bemidji State on Wednesday and Minnesota Duluth on Saturday before closing out the regular season at home against SCSU on Sunday.
- The Beavers are only 1-10 at home this season
- Ashley Hill has been the team's top hitter with her .370 batting average, five home runs, 24 RBIs and 16 walks.
- Jordan Grant leads the team with her 55 hits and 25 stolen bases.
- Rachel Burdette has 16 extra base hits this season (six doubles, four triples and six home runs).
- Alyssa Cornejo and Jenn Spencer are tied for the team lead with six wins each
- Spencer also leads the team in the circle with her 23 appearances, 17 starts, seven complete games, 106.2 innings pitched and 70 strikeouts.
- The Huskies went 1-5 last week with the team's win coming over Augustana on Saturday, April 16.
- Junior Alyssa Coletto hit three home runs and drove in five runs on the week, while also leading the team with her nine hits and a .429 batting average.
- Senior Taige Puetz sported a .412 batting average, seven hits and three RBIs
- Junior Rebecca Harps totaled eight hits, two doubles, three RBIs and a .381 batting average.
- Junior Jessica Goerger made her five hits on the week count with three home runs, seven RBIs and 14 total bases.
- The Huskies hit seven home runs as a team on the week in the six games.
- Senior Senna Francesconi had an epic 10.1 inning performance in the 5-3 loss in 11 innings to Wayne State.
- The 10.1 innings pitched was a career-high for Francesconi and longest outing for an SCSU pitcher in at least the last 10 seasons.
- Her 10.1 innings thrown against Wayne State was the third time in her career that she has thrown more than seven innings in a game.
- Francesconi led the team with her 21.2 innings thrown and 17 strikeouts on the week.
- Harps took over the team lead in hits (52) and batting average (.356) this week.
- She also has scored 28 runs, has 24 RBIs, 64 total bases and nine stolen bases.
- Harps and sophomore Veronica Wold are tied for the team lead with 10 doubles each.
- Goerger is hitting .352 with 21 runs, 43 hits, six doubles, two triples, 11 home runs, 37 RBIs, 86 total bases, .705 slugging percentage and .474 on-base percentage.
- She ranks in the top 10 in the NSIC in several categories including slugging percentage (6th), on-base percentage (9th), RBIs (7th), home runs (t-3rd) and walks (6th),
- Coletto is hitting .342 with 20 runs, 51 hits, six doubles, five home runs, 19 RBIs and 76 total bases.
- Freshman Kate Kopeck leads the in ERA at 3.42 with a 5-2 record.
