The #1 ranked St. Cloud State University wrestling team (11-1, 3-0 NSIC) will host cross county rival Saint John's University (6-2) on Thursday, Jan. 26 at Halenbeck Hall in St. Cloud, Minn.
The match has been designated as Youth/Middle School/Prep Night and all students in grades K-12 will be admitted to the match for just $1.00. Â
Tickets for the match may be purchased at the gate and all SCSU students get into this match for FREE.
The St. Cloud State wrestling team received a #1 ranking in the latest Division II coaches poll released on Jan. 20. Â The Huskies own a 11-1 overall record and a 3-0 record in the NSIC.
Last week, SCSU posted a pair of NSIC victories over Minnesota State Moorhead and Northern State at Halenbeck Hall.  SCSU is the five-time defending NSIC champion and the Huskies have now won 47 consecutive NSIC dual matches dating back to a loss vs. Augustana on Jan. 27, 2011.
Austin Goergen owns a perfect 17-0 record this season with 10 pins for the Huskies.  He has won 18 consecutive matches dating back to the third place bout at the 2016 NCAA DII championships.  In his career at SCSU, Goergen has 61 falls.
Vince Dietz continues to impress at 197-pounds with a 20-2 overall record.  His only two setbacks this season came againt J'den Cox of Missouri (an Olympic medalist and #1 ranked DI wrestler at 197) and Northern State's Joe Gomez (who finished as the runner-up at the 2016 NCAA DII championships).
Senior Clayton Jennissen owns a 20-5 record this year and has 104 career wins as a Husky.
At 149-pounds, James Pleski posted a 16-5 win over #2 ranked Tyler Stenberg of Northern State last week. Â Pleski's record this season is 16-5.
St. Cloud State will also send a contingent of wrestlers to the North Country Open on Jan. 29 at Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minn. Â The tournament will begin at 9 a.m. at the SJU athletic complex.
SCSU head coach Steve Costanzo is in his 11th season with the Huskies and owns a 163-28 record at the University. Â Since the 2010-11 season, SCSU is 124-6 under the leadership of Costanzo.
Mark your calendars...SCSU's next home dual meets will take place on Feb. 3 against Minot State at 7 p.m. and Feb. 4 against Minnesota State at 2 p.m. (Alumni Day).
