Softball Defeats St. Thomas Aquinas on Sunday At Spring Games, 6-3

Clermont, Fla. – St. Cloud State's softball team (12-7) defeated St. Thomas Aquinas (1-4) by a 6-3 score on Sunday, March 11, at the Spring Games in Clermont, Fla.
Freshman Kylie Thomsen had a pair of hits and an RBI. She also earned the save after pitching three hitless innings in relief. Freshman Megan Conrads totaled three hits and two RBIs. Senior Libby Bingham and sophomore Anna Roth each had an RBI.
Junior Kate Kopeck (4-3) earned the win in allowing three runs in four innings with three strikeouts.
The Huskies scored two runs in the opening inning with Thomsen having an RBI double.
St. Thomas Aquinas tied the game at two all with a pair of runs in the top of the second inning on Danielle DiModugno two-run single.
The Huskies wrestled the lead back in the bottom of the frame as Bingham's triple plated Conrads, who had reached on a one-out single.
SCSU added a three runs in the lead in the bottom of the third inning. Roth doubled in a run and Conrads had a two-run single.
St. Thomas Aquinas scored a run in the fourth inning on Kelcy McGee's sacrifice fly.
Briana Keaveney (1-1) took the loss as she surrendered six runs (three earned) in six innings.
The Huskies wrap-up play in the Spring Games on Monday, March 12, with two more games. The program takes on Clarion of Pennsylvania at 1 p.m. and Quincy University at 3:30 p.m.
