St. Cloud State softball charts twinbill sweep against Bemidji State

The St. Cloud State University softball team (23-13, 9-5 NSIC) moved up in the NSIC standings thanks to a twinbill sweep over visiting Bemidji State University (13-15, 2-4 NSIC) on Wednesday, April 11 in the Husky Dome. In game one, SCSU posted an 8-5 victory and then completed the double dip with an 4-1 victory.
SCSU will bring a three game winning streak into a pair of NSIC doubleheaders in the Husky Dome against Winona State on Friday, April 13 at 1 p.m. and against Upper Iowa on Saturday, April 14 at 10 a.m. Admission to both of these doubleheaders is FREE for all spectators in the climate controlled effort of the Husky Dome.
In game one, the Beavers broke a scoreless deadlock in the third inning with three runs. In the bottom of that inning, SCSU rallied to score five runs. Libby Bingham started the scoring parade with an RBI single that brought home Amanda Moncelle. Haley McFarlane then blasted a grandslam to make the tally 5-3.
BSU managed to tie the contest at 5-5 in the fourth inning before the Huskies came back with the winning runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Morgan Emmans scored the first two runs with double that brought home Alexis Jacobs and Maya Keating. Emmans later scored the winning run on an RBI single by McFarlane.
In the game, McFarlane had two hits and five RBIs, while Jacobs, Keating and Emmans all had two hits in the contest. Of note, the home run was McFarlane's third of the season and it was Emmans' team leading 15th double of the year. Both SCSU and BSU had 10 hits apiece in the game. Bradi Yost gained her second victory of the season with 3.0 innings of relief work, which featured one hit allowed and two strikeouts. Kylie Thomsen started the game for SCSU and allowed nine hits and five runs in 4.0 innings of play.
In game two, SCSU took command early with a pair of runs in the first inning. Emmans kicked things off with an RBI single that scored Keating. Brooke Bowlin then added a double that scored Emmans to give SCSU a 2-0 edge. In the third inning, McFarlane stayed in the power lane with a solo home run to centerfield that pushed the score to 3-0. Megan Conrads completed the offense with an RBI double that brought home Bowlin and made the tally 4-0. BSU ended the offense with a solo run in the fourth inning.
Yost addded her third win of the season with a complete game performance that included one strikeout, seven hits allowed and just one run allowed. SCSU outhit the Beavers 9-7 in the contest. Bowlin led SCSU on offense with three hits in the game, while McFarlane had two hits for SCSU.
